Fit is Fast

When we opened US ONE-DESIGN, we had one goal and one goal only: to support our sailing fleets. Whether that was gear, or rigging, or simply providing a physical location for sailors to gather (*read complain and offer unsolicited advice to each other), we were committed to providing whatever they needed. To that end, we spent the better part of the last few months listening to sailors-- in this case Laser/ ILCA Dinghy sailors-- during the post-race social hour. Here are a few highlights of the conversations:

"I can barely lift my legs in the morning to put my socks on, never mine hike harder."

"I can no longer stand up straight."

"It's not me, it's the boat."

"I need to wear seven pairs of deck beaters to make my a$$ not hurt tomorrow."

"I am not giving up beer.  I don't care if i come in fourteenth place for the rest of my life, I am not giving up beer."

Gear and boats aside, it became pretty clear, pretty quick that what you wanted was information... ideas/ suggestions/ tips on how to sail faster, and in my case... how to do it without feeling like I had been run over by a Mack truck the next day.  So, in an effort to help those of us who know that fit is the key to fast but have zero clue how to achieve it, we have teamed up with Carol Penfield, (M.S., NPC , Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified Lifestyle Medicine, A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer -- and fellow sailor) to help give us some quick tutorials on how to achieve maximum performance while alleviating some of the crazy ailments that come along with dinghy sailing.

Below are a series of short video clips that Carol has put together to help sailors become Fit and Fast.  Check back often as we will continue to add more videos to our library.
