At US One-Design / McLaughlin Boat Works, we specialize in high-performance, one-design dinghy sailing. Whether outfitting beginners or seasoned sailors, our mission is to deliver expert advice, top-tier equipment, and unmatched regatta support across all levels of competition.

We are currently seeking a customer service-oriented individual with small boat sailing experience to join our sales and regatta support .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with individual customers, sailing programs, and yacht clubs to support long-term business growth.
  • Provide product recommendations and sales support, both in-store and remotely, with a focus on performance sailing gear and dinghy class equipment.
  • Deliver exceptional on-the-ground support at local, regional, and national regattas.
  • Coordinate the annual regatta schedule, including fleet assignments and trailer logistics for Optimist, Club 420, and ILCA classes.
  • Transport charter fleet(s) to and from events, ensuring boats and equipment are safely delivered and ready for racing.
  • Assist with on-site rigging, tuning, troubleshooting, and customer service during regattas.
  • Maintain and prepare charter fleet boats and trailers between events, ensuring they are race-ready and in excellent condition.
  • Support shop operations during non-travel periods, including customer service, inventory management, and general shop duties.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Hands-on experience with small boat sailing (Optimist, ILCA, 420, etc.)
  • Experience towing trailers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A passion for helping others succeed in the sport of sailing.
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends during regattas.
  • A team-oriented mindset and strong organizational skills.

Note: This is a full-time, salaried position. Travel of up to 60 days per year and availability on select weekends is required.

Experience:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (required for compliance with Department of Transportation regulations for vehicle operation).
  • Knowledge of one-design dinghy sailing strongly preferred, particularly familiarity with Optimist, Club 420, and ILCA/Laser classes.
  • Ability to lift and move loads of 50 lbs or more, including boats, gear, and trailer equipment.
  • Experience towing trailers, with a strong preference for those who have towed enclosed trailers over long distances.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Comfortable working independently and in fast-paced environments such as regattas and event sites.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required;

Job Type: Full-time, 40 per week w/ occassional weekends as needed.
