These Optimist buoyancy bags are constructed from polyurethane-coated nylon, making them about half the weight—and considerably stronger—than bags made from PVC or PVC-coated nylon. Twist-lock tube valve attached to a short section of tubing allows for fast, easy inflation and deflation.
The 48-liter version is slightly heavier than the 43-liter model, but provides noticeably improved flotation, keeping far less water in the boat after a capsize.
