THE OPTIMAX RACING SPAR SETS:

Optimax spars are divided into 3 main categories: MK3 Flex, MK3 and MK4, with the extension of the MK3 Hyperflex sprit which can be used in combination with all sets. Below are a few basic rule for deciding which spar is right for your sailor, but it is also recommended that you consult your coach and sail tuning guide.

MAST OPTIONS

This MK3 standard mast is a good all round racing mast and is designed for mid weight sailors between the ages of 35kg and 45kg.
The MK3 flex mast is the most flexible and active mast which is designed for light weight sailors under 35k

BOOM OPTIONS

• The MK3 40 mm boom is a light and flexible all round boom. It is suitable for sailors from 35 to 45 kg.
• The MK4 45 mm boom is a stiffer racing boom which is suitable for the more experienced, heavier weight sailors. It is suitable for sailors above 45 kg.

SPRIT OPTIONS

• The MK3 27 mm sprit is an all round sprit which can be used with all masts and booms. It is suitable for sailors from 35 to 45 kg.
• The MK3 Flex 26.6 mm sprit is a light and flexible racing sprit that is suitable for sailors under 35 kg.
• The MK3 Hyperflex 28 mm sprit is the most flexible racing sprit. It creates less distortion of the sail shape and provides an active change of tension on the leech. The MK3 Hyperflex spritis for the more experienced sailor who can adjust their main sheet tension constantly. It is suitable for sailors under 35 kg.
